Dear Mr. Poon,
The SM 70 Pros have both arrived. They were very well packed and arrived in great shaped.
I was really excited and immediately set them up. I unhooked my Jadis CA30 class A/B tube amp, and hooked up the 70 pros and set them to run in bridge mono mode. Since you have already burned them in prior to shipping, I decided to immediately sit down for some serious listening. My front end consists of the Marantz SAKI Pearl Lite SACD/CD player, Audio Research LS7 tube pre amp, and speakers are the Spendor SP1/2R monitors. Cables and interconnect are Belden throughout, which are economical and very good.
Upon turning on and playing my first CD, the incomparable Nick Drake "Time of No Reply" (and all his other 3 CDs as well), all my fears about losing the liquidity of tube amps were gone. The sound from the 70 pros were simply sweet and liquid, and they have nice body to the sound, not just smooth. I could hear as much clarity and details as my beloved Jadis tube amp, but the bass is significantly tighter. As I listen to vocals and Jazz a lot, this is very important to me, and the SM 70 pros pass the test with flying colours.
I next tested Beethoven Sonata No. 3 for cello and piano by YoYoMa and Emanuelax (on CBS Masterworks) . I could previously hear the piano foot pedal sound by Emanuel vaguely, but they sounded like someone hitting on paper boxes. However, on the 70 Pros, they sound like real foot pedals with weight. The sound is much tighter and came out clearer, and YoYoMa cello went much deeper. I then played the first track Blue Rondo from the cd "Time Out" by Dave Brubeck. The first few notes usually sounded quite bright and can have a harsh ringing sound, which I thought a solid state amp would fair poorly, but surprise surprise, the 70 pros performed very well. I am glad I took your advice to go for the Zero Feedback design of the 70 pros. The sound is really natural. You must have done something magical to produce such sweet and transparent sounding amps. I will keep listening and I think the sound can only improve. As both my Jadis and the new 70 pros are excellent, I have decided to keep both and set up an additional system.
Finally, kudos to you. You should be given some medals for making such beautiful products for such an affordable price. It goes to show that hi-fi- and hi-end do not necessarily mean high prices. Well done, and I am looking forward to making my next purchase from you.

Just wanted to update you on how my SM-70 PRO's are working.
In a word, BEAUTIFULLY !!!
The last time I wrote you I said I wanted to change my AC Plugs . The nickel plating on the ones I had (LEVITON Industrial Grade) gave a top heavy sound that was a bit harsh.
Well, I finally got my MARINCO (All Brass) Twist Lock Plug for 230 V, and guess what -- the sound is just a whole lot more balanced between high and low, and the highs are so much more delicate and detailed.
This result is from my passive 3-way system, and my speakers never sounded so good !!! But eventually I intend to use the amps for the mids in my active 3-way, as soon as I figure out which amps to get for my tweeters. Right now, I'm using an old PA amp for my mids and highs, and Class D mono's for my lows.
But I know already that the SM-70 PRO's will excel in any environment, and I am going to find the right speaker cable for optimum performance.
So stay tuned. I will let you know in a few months how the amps are doing in my active system.
Lastly, about the hum. Initially, there was a hum (just a little) from one of them. Well, it's completely gone after I changed the power plugs. Now my amps are DEAD SILENT. I wonder why.....
Anyway, I want to thank you once again for the great products you bring to us audio fans.

Dear Mr. Poon,
Just had to let you know how steadfastly enthralled I’ve been with a balanced pair of your SM-70 Pro’s since I bought them from you on sale about 3 years back. Having a balanced DAC, I had the XLR connectors in each amp physically replaced with Goldpoint, Surface-Mount Resistor attenuators in order to minimize the wiring distance from the attenuators to the amp inputs. This has worked fantastically well, especially sound-wise. Another thing is that I have over the last 3 years invested many thousands of dollars in quality power conditioning and electronic noise reduction. I started tentatively at first, but the more I was rewarded, the more I kept going at it – determined to see if I ever came to the point that my gear seemed to max out and I felt like I’d reached the point of diminishing returns. Never did really, just needed to stop out of self-preservation is all! What I mean is that these little amps have responded brilliantly to every single upgrade along the way. All their attributes have increased (tonality, timbre, dynamic range, harmonics, etc) and whatever might have been considered their sonic drawbacks (I know they don’t do the whole 3D thing quite like the other SET’s – Single-Ended Triodes) are now completely resolved. They were terrific to start with and these days they’re just jaw-dropping. They have proven to be quality through and through and never fail to make me smile, even 3 years on – just incredible mid-range and top end and breathtaking transparency from the very top all the way down to the lowest of lows. And what an incredible bargain they were! For the money I believe they are truly special. THANK YOU, Mr. Poon, for putting so much in my hands for so little!! (Couldn’t even begin to think of what else I could replace them with for anything close to the same money…!).

Let me also express extreme satisfaction and proud ownership of a pair of SM-70 PRO. It all started when I decided to sell my tube amps and search for a solid state amp that would adequately drive my Usher BE 718. Among those who expressed interests was a writer from Stereo Times, Frank Alles. I had already narrowed down a few amps that I thought would do justice to those hungry Tiny Dancers. Mr. Alles suggested I look up Monachy Audio and since he had personally reviewed them felt that they would be ideal for the Ushers.
I was overwhelmed, to say the least, by the amount of information, feedbacks, and reviews posted on this well put together website. I then proceeded to contact the designer and after a few emails, followed by a phone conversation, I placed an order and by weeks end the amps were delivered. Upon opening the box, I was very smitten by their appearances, and small footprints.
It has been nearly a month or so, and nowhere close to the 100 mark, and they sound phenomenal. Well controlled bass, sweetly detailed and effortless in their presentation. I'm simply amazed that Mr. Poon can offer this level of performance at such a reasonable price.
I have no doubt either that much care, devotion, and a love for his craft was poured into those jewel like amps when he set out to create them.
I'm a believer.
